Tesha Clemmons, Esq. is a Senior Partner of Clemmons Law Firm based in Atlanta, GA. Her firm’s practice areas of expertise include family law, immigration, bankruptcy and small business law. Dedicated to justice, Clemmons and her partners firmly believe that being a legal advocate for others is not simply a professional occupation, but a life mission.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Clemmons’ experience includes serving as an attorney with Fulton County’s Government and the Fulton County Family Drug Court. She also serves as a certified guardian ad litem and mediator for the Fulton County Juvenile Court, representing the best interest of hundreds of children within the system. Through her work with Fulton County, Clemmons has helped secure more than $4.5 million in federal grants for the court’s work to successfully rehabilitate and reunite families impacted by drug addiction.
In 2006, Clemmons made history by serving as the youngest prosecutor for Clayton County, Georgia. Noted for her work with juvenile offenses, she was also selected a part of the Dekalb County School System’s independent legal team in the alleged bullying case of Jaheem Herrera that made national headlines on Oprah and in Newsweek Magazine.
Since launching her own practice, Clemmons continues to counsel county governments and school systems in addition to companies and individuals. Litigating on matters ranging from domestic abuse to small business claims, Clemmons’ clients note that her compassion – yet no-nonsense approach – is what they appreciate the most. Clemmons is also a law professor at various schools and universities include Herzing University and Kennesaw State University. Continuing to work with youth, she also teaches street law to high school students.
Clemmons’ professional affiliations include serving as an active member of the Atlanta Bar Association, Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and Dekalb County Chapter of League of Women Voters. She is also a graduate of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys Professional Development Academy, The White House Project’s Go Run Go Lead program and the Women’s Campaign School at Yale University.
Deeply committed to community, Clemmons is actively involved with a number of civic organizations throughout the state of Georgia include Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., United Way and the Urban League Atlanta Chapter. She has raised more than $10,000 March of Dimes March for Babies as a Team Leader. Clemmons is also an active member of Georgia’s Women’s Policy group and the Junior League of Atlanta as a member of the lobbying team advocating for tougher laws to protect children from sexual exploitation.
Clemmons has a Magna Cum Laude graduate degree from Morris Brown and holds her law degree from North Carolina Central University’s School of Law. In her spare time, Clemmons enjoys mentoring young girls, playing tennis and traveling.
