What is Georgia's Medicaid Estate Recovery Program?
It is a program required by federal law where Medicaid members with qualified assets are required to reimburse taxpayers for long term care, home-based services, or community-based services provided through Medicaid. After the member's death, the funds are recovered from his or her estate. It is important to note that some Estates will not be affected by the program.
